Taken on Locus bestseller list

The December edition of Locus magazine’s sci-fi and fantasy bestseller list just came out, and the US edition of Taken is on there under the ‘Paperbacks’ category!

First time I’ve ever been on a bestseller list.  It’s a good feeling!

  1. Congratulations! It’s well deserved.

  2. Excellent, any chance you might do a short story for direct release via kindle or nook and have it take place between books three and four? The Iron Druid Series by Kevin Hearne did this successfully.

  3. Some sort of side stories specifically for e-readers would be a great idea!

  4. Could do, but it’d take a fair bit of time, and at the moment I’m mostly focused on book 5. Might try it if I ever have a side story I especially want to tell, though.

  5. You’ve been on my best read list since I first opened Fated.

  6. Thank you – that’s very nice to hear!

    Hey man,
First off, I love the series. It has this wonderful blend of wit, mystery and danger to them. Best books I’ve read for a VERY long time 🙂
What I wanted to ask you about was the inspiration for the ‘house of horrors’ in Taken. Did you look at Vlad the Impaler and Countess Elizabeth Bathory, or was it some sort of legend?
I read and watch a lot of Manga and Anime, and a little series called Ghost Hunt has a story arc which is nearly identical to the one in Taken, with the main exceptions being that it occurred in Japan and mages don’t exist.
Can’t wait for the next books and keep up the great work.
