Veiled

VeiledUK300

The sixth book in the Alex Verus series.

Alex Verus and the Light Council have never gotten along. But with his former teacher back in Britain, Alex is in desperate need of allies, and he’ll do whatever it takes to get them—even if it means accepting a job with the Keepers, enforcing magical law.

Alex forms an uneasy alliance with his new partner, Caldera, but his attempt at legitimacy quickly turns lethal when a mission puts him in possession of an item that factions both inside and outside of the Council would kill to get their hands on.

Once again caught in the middle of a deadly conflict, Alex will need all his abilities to figure out who his friends are—especially when enemies are hiding on all sides . . .

Love the Alex Verus series. Jacka has done a fine job creating this magical world. Verus himself is interesting and fun to be with as are his associates and companions. I’ve just finished Veiled and enjoyed the heck out of it. I have but one negative comment: Could Alex really have done *nothing* for the woman (Marie Gilman) who saved his butt from Chamois in the Stratford station? From the description given, she suffers some serious injuries when Chamois hammers her with air magic. Yet Alex simply flees (understandable as he’s the target), but couldn’t he have bothered to send the woman some flowers or a clutch of grapes after the fact? I kept waiting to see her mentioned again, even in passing, but nada. Her courage deserved more recognition than that (though I suspect she was basically fan bait, given the use of a specific name and her fleeting appearance).

I thourougly enjoy these books and can’t wait for the next one to come out.

One thing I do think about when I lay awake at night is this… (this thought started already during the first book); how on earth has Luna’s family managed to survive for generations, when apparently her curse would kill any man (or woman for that matter) who touches the women in her lineage with the curse for just a very short time… This is stated again and again during the series..

    How do they procreate…?

  3. Sven Flottmann says:

The curse hits one per Generation.
So Luna has a Sibling… problem solved.

Speaking of Problems: I cannot buy hidden on audible because I am from germany… but I can buy every otehr book… Can you help me Mr. Jacka?
