Currently planning out Book #10.
I’m looking forward to this book. In a lot of ways it’s going to be the big turning point of the series – not the end, but the last major set of reveals/dramatic changes before the end. By the time the book’s done, all the major characters in the series should have been established, and it’ll be clear who’s on who’s side for the final battles.
Book #10’s also going to resolve a lot of long-running sideplots and things that have been hinted at. One of the more common questions that I get asked is whether Alex is ever going to get some sort of power-up. That’s going to get addressed in a final way, along with Alex’s relationship status and the question of what Richard’s been planning all this time. To the best of my knowledge no-one has yet correctly guessed the answers to any of these questions (or if they have, they haven’t put it online where I can see it) so it’s going to be a lot of fun to finally get it out there.
The downside to all this is that doing all these resolutions is going to be a LOT of work. Since Book #10 builds on so much previous material, it’s going to have an enormous amount of references to past books. I’m actually considering going back to drawing out diagrams just to keep track of everything. Well, we’ll see how it goes.
Excellent! I enjoy re-reading this series, it’s a marvelous creation in so many ways. And I’ve never wanted to re-write any of your sentences, which is another kind of pleasure. Thank you for all of it.

When you say ‘before the end’ are you indicating that the series will have a set number of books and then it will be over? If book 10 is basically the beginning of the end, and the series DOES have a set number of books before done, how many do you think it will be before the end? If so, are you considering a new series based upon the current universe with another character or will Alex be just put in a position to have new adventures? I really do NOT face the end of this series with any joy, I enjoy it far too much. Thank you for sharing these adventures with us!

No one has correctly guessed Alex’s future “relationship status”? Hmmm, that seems odd. If it is not just Alex and Anne in a traditional relationship, or maybe dark horse candidates Caldera or Luna (don’t piss off Vari!), all of which I am sure someone has guessed before, then it would have to be something coming out of no where.
Alex is secretly gay and is in love with Sonder?
Or maybe Alex has long repressed his masochistic side and he is really in love with Mistress Deleo, who must discipline him quite severely?
Please don’t tell me Alex finally must admit that he can no longer resist his deep sexual attraction to Arachne?
Hi Benedict, been a really big fan since the first book, but this is my first time posting here. Can’t wait to listen to book #9 on audible and really hope Alex catches a break. He’s been getting a pretty raw deal for the past few books.(Also hope to see Sonder a bit more, I think he’s gotten over his moral dilemma, and I really like his interaction with Alex. And I really like to see Alex, Luna, and Sonder team-up in a fight.)
