New book’s making good progress. The first chapter’s almost done; usually I find that to be one of the major sticking points, so it’s always a good sign when I get past it.
It’s always a bit strange giving these kind of updates. For most of you reading this, your main interest is probably Book 1 of the new series, and even that’s a distant thing far off in the future (release date is about 9 months away). For me, on the other hand, Book 1 is basically over with. All the major decisions and nearly all of the minor ones have been made, meaning that there’s not very much reason for me to think about it anymore. It already feels like past history, and by the time it comes out in October I’ll probably be spending most of my time planning out what I’m going to do for Book 3.
I like those updates, even though you think them strange – it’s a good feeling to know you make progress, because that means we can enjoy the second book of the new series without too much waiting time after finishing the first ;o)
(I do realise of course that it’s probably going to be a-book-a-year, as before, but I can live with that. Somehow. Hopefully.)
Definitely love hearing progress about your work, especially if its book 2. That just builds excitement for book 1, knowing that there will be more after it.
For me, the main benefit from hearing about work for books “down the pipeline” from my point of view is it helps reassure me that the series isn’t going to spontaneously end after the author loses interest in the project after book 2 with no resolution. I know you’ve proven that that is extremely unlikely, but it’s happened a couple of times in the past with series I really enjoy, and it doesn’t take long before that concern is just kind of nestled in your brain.
Don’t know if that helps you at all.
Wondering if you are going with the same publisher as you Alex Versus series. As a now established successful writer did you get a commitment for the entire series or a multiple book deal as for the Berus series.
I only ‘read’ the books via audible, do you know who will be narrating the new series?
Bob/Horacio: Same publishers as before, but no, I don’t know who’ll be narrating the new books as yet. I’ll post the info up here once I do.
