Endings and Beginnings

Alex Verus #6 is done!  The edited version was sent off to my publishers last week;  there are copy-edits and proofreading still to do, but for the most part, the manuscript sitting on my computer now is the same one that you guys will be reading next year.

And with that finally out of the way, I’ve started work on Book #7.  Wrote the first paragraph yesterday, should have the first page done by tonight.  I’m aiming to finish this one the end of March – let’s see if I make it!

Do you plan on coming to any Comic Con conventions in the States next year?

  2. Geli says:

    Congratulations! 😀

  3. Alex Walker says:

Does this mean that Book 6 will be out sooner than expected?? Or will it still be a July-September release like Hidden??

  4. John says:

Maybe book #6 (what is the title?) will be out in March and book #7 will be out in September?

Robert: I might be going to Anime Next. Not sure about Comicons.

Alex/John: It typically takes about a year from when I finish the first draft to publication. Fastest it’s ever been has been 11 months, longest has been 15 months. In this case there were some rewrites, but not a huge amount, so I’d guess July/August 2015 for Book #6.

No way book #7 will be out by September 2015. The absolute earliest it could realistically be released would be February 2016, and that assumes no delays whatsoever (which isn’t likely).

    good on you. 🙂

i remember the first time i ran into the alex verus series. bought Fated for something to read during a weekend training thing across the street from my favourite bookshop.

    finished it that night.

    bought Cursed the next day.

    finished it that night.

luckily, Taken hit the shelves the day after. 🙂

    Hello Alex,

When you were explaining all the various steps that you go through for the book… why not start outlining for the next book in the times while you are waiting to here from the editors? Would or do you start in your mind’s eye to flesh out the next book, and get ready to hit the pavement for the next instalment?
