    delicious new chapter!

  2. Liudmila says:

Thank you very much, I was really looking forward to it.

My weekend is off to a great start!

All in all, I like William (?) Oakwood just more and more. Smart, strategic, loving and caring <3 Not perfect, but he has his reasons and is constantly learning and growing – which I'm not sure I can abot some of the other characters…

Did Helen really leave just up and leave like that? With 18 month old Stephen on his own in their apartment, and her ex-husband worried sick? She must have been quite fed up to say the least… Strange that she was not able to see the fault in that.. Hm..

I look forward to learning more!

Great chapter I like how it isn’t a cliffhanger like that last preview chapters and we learned a lot about the Winged! I know they seem like insider knowledge but it seems like with Drucraft it is an open secret that they and the cults are around and in charge?

Quick questions that I don’t think are too much of spoiler….

Was the most important part of the Winged network in the United States or Germany because I would think the UK would be up there but William made it seem like they were rather unimportant.

And did the Winged support the Soviets in the Cold War and the Order of the Dragon support the US? Because technically both countries were formed by Revolutions and it is hard to see which side would choose since both sides could be seen as the rebels or the establishment.

  5. Fatima says:

Finally we get to learn some more about Stephen’s father as well as Winged!

I can’t wait for this book to be released! I have a feeling we will get to learn more and it will serve as a stepping stone before the pace picks itself up a bit more :))))

  6. Theverani says:

Ops.. I think I am falling in love with Stephen’s dad? He’s an interesting character, and clearly cares about his son 🙂

  7. Bill says:

Excellent, thank you very much and only a month before we can read the whole book! I’m assuming that Will is preparing the Audio Book as we wait for the release date.
I’m sorry but I felt his dad had a bit too much of “I didn’t really have a choice I was forced into playing along with the bad guys” – but he does seem to care very much about Stephen.

Looking forward (I hope) to a bigger part for Hobbes in the coming book!

    • Vanya says:

I… empathize more with William than with Helen.

The bar might be a bit low for what we can expect from his parents.. However, I think that.. Stephen’s father thought that he had to turn a blind eye to his line of work in order to ensure a good upbringing for Stephen.
Not sure if it can be justified..

However, he is doing the right thing now.. So that’s great 🙂 There also seems to be a lot more to his character that makes him interesting. His resilience for one.

Albeit, it is all concerning.. Because what does he know that puts him in such a position where he has to dissappear?

      • Bill says:

Well we won’t know any more until the book comes out so its all speculation.
I feel that, so far, we haven’t had the full story. Charles and Helen are clearly attempting to do the best for House Ashford (or their extended families if you prefer), but in a fairly clinical way. (Sadly I feel that Joanna also shares their world view)
We don’t know anything about Helen & William’s marital problems, so no idea who (if anyone) to blame there. On the positive side Stephen’s dad does seem to have taken good care of his son since the split-up but as an armsman in House Ashford I would have expected to have heard about the Winged and that they were “the bad guys”? The fact that he purloined a couple of Sigils when he left the house (high-value items!) speaks to the fact that he wasn’t totally pure, and, perhaps, not completely unaware of what he was getting into with the Winged.
Charles, it would seem, cast Helen out when she got involved in the “hired muscle” and inviting her back, when her sister died, seems to have been too tempting an offer when she and William weren’t getting on. Still, abandoning Stephen seems a pretty drastic/nasty thing to do.
Mind you, Steven’s dad also abandoned him when the going got tough and doesn’t seem to have shown an interest in how he was doing up until now. Was he keeping a discrete eye on Stephen from a distance? – it isn’t mentioned, and his dad seems unaware of any of the recent events in Stephens life.

        • Celia says:

In fairness, no one else could have used William’s sigls, so if he didn’t take them, they would’ve been essentially valueless.

          • Bill says:

fair comment, I guess that they’d only be useful for essentia recovery – Except they might work for Stephen?

  8. Lilo says:

I like Stephen’s father. I look forward to learning more about him.
