Orbit Bookseller Event

Went to an Orbit authors-and-booksellers event in London last night, which I think was the first author event I’ve done in two years.  I had a very nice time, so thanks to my publishers for organising and to the booksellers and authors I got to talk with!

I’d say that I’m looking forward to the next one, but at the rate I tend to attend these things, I’m due to go to my next one somewhere around 2028-ish.  Was still fun though!

Smaller, more focused book events like that can be fun. You get more “quality time” with authors and other fans than you do at monstrously huge cons like Dragon Con in Atlanta. I traveled across the Atlantic to visit the UK last year to attend the British Fantasy Society’s Fantasy Con in Brighton. I got to chat with a large number of authors and even had drinks and/or lunch and/or coffee with a few of them. I also met some online friends in person for the first time. It was amazing and I’d love to go again, budget permitting.

I’m glad you were able to go to that event. It sounds like fun. I hope you have more opportunities to attend events like that in the future.

As a Yank I’m unlikely to ever be able to attend, but where would I find announcements about this sort of thing beforehand please?

In this case it was a closed event, so I didn’t announce it. If I’m doing a signing or something similar, I’ll post about it on this blog first.
